Kathmandu, Aug. 3: Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina has stressed the need for a clear and practical framework to ensure transparent and effective mobilization of government grants given for the film industry. An implementable procedure was required to ensure a systematic, transparent, effective and regular spending process of the grants to be given to the film-related institutions and artistes, Minister Dr Timilsina said. 
Minister Dr Timilsina said so today at an interaction programme with the stakeholders organized at the Ministry on draft of the 'Procedures Relating to the Incentive Grant Programme for Film Making in the Cultural and National Importance Sector, 2083 BS'.
Different figures from the film industry, film producers, directors, artistes and experts joined the interaction programme. 
The interaction programme was organized to prepare the draft of the procedures to effectively mobilize Rs 35 million grant amount allocated for the current fiscal year to incentivize the film industry.  
On the occasion, Minister Dr Timilsina said that the government has aimed at encouraging realistic, unique and outstanding movie making in the areas of cultural national importance, and added that transparency and accountability should be ensured in the grant distribution process. 
Minister Dr Timilsina said that the grants should not be misused but the process to receive the amount should not be made unnecessarily cumbersome.
