Investigation about enforced disappeared persons to be made effective
Kathmandu, Aug 11: The ongoing investigation into the enforced disappeared persons would be made effective.
The Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons is to make investigation of complaints and exploration of truth effective, after receiving the complaints related to disappearance of persons.
At an annual progress review programme organised in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Commission Secretary Dhurba Kumar Chauhan mentioned that the Commission would perform keeping rights of victims and victim families and individual's concern in centre and the Commission's activities would be made further systematic and result-oriented.
The Commission shared about the activities carried out in fiscal year 2082/83, status of research and investigation, action taken upon complaints, coordination made with victims and victim families, records management, among others.
The CIEDP is currently without its office-bearers since the appointments made by the previous government were annulled through an Ordinance introduced by the present government.
