SYDNEY, Sept. 18 : Australia's three busiest airports were on Friday morning affected by an immigration system outage, causing delays for international passengers.

The technical issue affected e-gates for outbound and inbound international flights at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane airports.

Local media reported that the outage caused long passenger queues through international terminals.

A spokesperson for the Australian Border Force told News Corp Australia newspapers that the agency was aware of the issue and had deployed additional officers to manually process passengers.

"We appreciate travelers' patience as we continue to work through the issue," they said.
