EU urges allies to up pressure on Russia after Ukraine train station strike
Top EU official Antonio Costa on Thursday called on allies to "increase the pressure" on Moscow after a Russian drone slammed into a busy platform at a railway station in Ukraine killing at least 14.
"Yet another cruel and devastating series of Russian strikes against civilians in Ukraine," Costa said on social media. "The EU will continue to increase the pressure on Russia and to support Ukraine until a just and lasting peace is achieved. We call on all our international partners to do the same."
The strike on Thursday at the Dnipro train station hit a platform "where a regular commuter train and a regular passenger train were standing", Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said she would "urge partners to further strengthen our support for Ukraine" at the EU-Canada summit this week and the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta on October 30-31.
"Russia must be held accountable," she said.
