2 Palestinians killed in Israeli fire in Gaza: medical sources
At least two Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, Palestinian medical sources said, while the Israeli army said it had killed five members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in southern Gaza.
Eyewitnesses said an Israeli drone fired a missile at a civilian vehicle traveling along Yafa Street in the Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
Al-Shifa Medical Complex said in a statement that one body and several wounded people, some seriously, were brought in following the strike.
Separately, a four-year-old child died from injuries sustained about three weeks ago in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Al-Zawayda in central Gaza, according to medical sources.
The Gaza Strip, home to nearly two million people, has continued to face periodic Israeli airstrikes despite a ceasefire.
Gaza's health authorities said in its daily report that hospitals across the enclave had received seven bodies and seven wounded over the past 24 hours, putting the Palestinian death toll since the ceasefire took effect in October last year at 1,498.
The cumulative toll since Oct. 7, 2023, has reached 74,389, it added.
