Kathmandu, Oct 28: Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications, Bishnu Prasad Koirala, who was appointed as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), assumed his duties at the RSS central office this afternoon.
He was welcomed by General Manager Sandeep Rai and various departmental heads. 
Upon taking charge, Chair Koirala emphasized the need to promptly advance the organizational and management survey of RSS, and pledged to move ahead with the ongoing recruitment process.
Chair Koirala also inspected the reporting and editing section and photo journalism departments.
Joint Secretary Koirala was appointed as the RSS Chair following the transfer of the previous Chair Dr Udaya Bahadur Ranamagar, also a Joint Secretary from the same Ministry, to the Ministry of Defence. 
Born in Shadananda Municipality-4, Bhojpur, Koirala has been in the civil service for the past two decades in different positions.
