British PM Affirms Readiness to Continue Full Support for Ukraine
London, August 19 : British Prime Minister Andy Burnham affirmed that his country will continue to fully support Ukraine, after Russia warned of consequences following confirmation of the use of British-made drones in recent Ukrainian strikes inside Russia.
"We will be there in Ukraine's hour of need and that won't change," Burnham said in a statement.
asked about the Russian threat, the Prime Minister confirmed that Britain was providing support "so that Ukraine can defend itself and that's been the British position all the way through this conflict, by previous prime ministers - it remains the case with me."
The Russian embassy in London had accused Britain of "deliberately choosing to escalate the Ukrainian crisis."
It added that there is a higher price to pay if Britain continues to deepen its involvement in the conflict. "London's actions will inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer," the embassy said.
Ukraine has recently escalated its long-range attacks on Moscow and other Russian regions, targeting oil refineries and warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer.
This is not the first time Russia has warned Britain over its role in supplying Ukraine with drone technology and Storm Shadow missiles.
