Landslide blocks Siddhartha highway
Palpa, Aug 19: Vehicular movement has been completely obstructed along Siddhartha highway due to landslide.
The landslide occurred at around 100 meters north of the entry point of Siddhababa tunnel route towards from Palpa side at Tinau rural municipality-3 of Palpa-Butwal road section along the highway has completely blocked the highway.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Bhim Lal Bhattarai, said the landslide had occurred at 7:00 am this morning.
Efforts are underway to resume traffic by removing landslide debris but landslide has been continuously taking place, he added.
Vehicles heading towards hilly areas from Tarai and vice versa have been stranded following the highway obstruction.
Vehicles operate their services up to Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Syangja, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Mustang and Baglung via this highway.
The Police Administration has requested all to avoid unnecessary travel in landslide-hit areas and passengers and drivers to stay in a safe place until the traffic resumes.
