Discussion on 'National Forensic Science Laboratory Bill, 2081' comes near to conclusion
Kathmandu, Aug 20: Discussion on the 'National Forensic Science Laboratory Bill, 2081' which is under consideration has come close to conclusion.
It is informed that deliberation on the clauses from 24 to the final point of the bill have moved towards conclusion at a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR)'s Committee on Education, Health and Information Technology today.
Secretary at the Committee, Dasharath Dhamala informed that discussions were held regarding amendments to several matters including appointment, qualifications, duties, and powers of the executive director of the Forensic Science Lab.
When appointing the executive director at the Lab, the previous meeting had added a provision noting the person should not practice ethnic discrimination or untouchability, in addition to the educational qualifications proposed in the bill.
Lawmakers, Lima Adhikari (Acharya), Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, and Gopal Sharma have registered amendments to the bill.
At the committee meeting, Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation Mahabir Pun responded to the amendment proposals and issues raised in the discussion.
