Kathmandu, Aug 6: Farmers hailing from Nuwakot, Dhading, and Kavrepalanchok districts have widely discussed the challenges they are facing, market management of agricultural products, supply and distribution of chemical fertilizers, and agricultural infrastructure. 
In today’s discussion at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forest, and Environment, Minister for Information and Communication Dr. Bikram Timilsina, Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supply Gauri Kumari, along with MPs and farmer representatives, participated. 
Dr. Timilsina, Member of Parliament from Nuwakot-1 and Communication Minister, said it was the responsibility of people's representatives to rightly inform farmers about government's ongoing efforts to that end, recalling commitments made during the election towards solving farmers’ woes. 
He shared his consistent coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture to resolve these issues while acting on the complaints lodged by farmers of his constituency. 
Also on the occasion, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Gauri Kumari said some industries are not getting enough required agricultural produce, while on the other hand, farmers are unable to sell their products. 
If supply and demand can be properly assessed and managed, both the problems of waste and shortage can be resolved, she added. 
Likewise, Agriculture, Forest, and Environment Minister Gita Chaudhary said that resolving farmers' issues is a high priority for the government and informed that preparations are underway to review the quota system for chemical fertilizers. 
An information system has been launched to provide daily prices of 12 different vegetable markets in a unified way, she said, adding that procedures for a land bank are in the drafting stage, efforts are being made to make fertilizer distribution more transparent, cold storage will be effectively managed, and initiatives are underway for additional agricultural road construction.
