Saptari, Aug 20: Two persons have died from Japanese Encephalitis infection in Saptari district. 
Satya Narayan Yadav, 74, of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-1 and Shiva Kumar Ram, 14, of Rajgadh Rural Municipality lost their lives due to Japanese encephalitis infection, informed Health Officer at the District Health Office, Shatish Yadav. Both, Yadav and Ram, died while undergoing treatment on August 6. 
The Health Officer shared that Yadav died while being treated at BP  Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, and Ram breathed his last at Golden Hospital in Biratnagar. 
Yadav further said three other patients are found to have Japanese Encephalitis infection in the district. He stated the some patients had returned home after treatment and that two of them had died.
Health Officer Yadav emphasized the need to avoid mosquito bites to prevent this disease at the moment. 
Avoiding going outside in the evening, wearing long-sleeved clothes while working in the fields, and using mosquito nets while sleeping can help prevent mosquito bites. 
Meanwhile, two people have also died from Japanese Encephalitis in Ghodaghodi Municipality of Kailali. 
Health worker at the municipality, Man Bahadur Bohara, said two people from Ghodaghodi-4 and 9 died during treatment. According to him, the deceased were women aged 34 and 70. 
Bohara shared patients with Japanese Encephalitis infection are being detected in Ghodaghodi during the past three years. 
In the fiscal year 2081/82, two people from wards 5 and 6 were infected, while this year, two people have died from the infection. 
“Japanese encephalitis is a disease that spreads to humans through the bite of Culex mosquitoes. Since the virus can be transmitted to humans when a mosquito that has bitten an infected pig bites a person, it is important to avoid mosquito bites and pay special attention to cleanliness around the house,” said health worker Bohara.
