Kathmandu, Aug 25: Minister for Youths, Labour and Employment, Ramji Yadav, has asserted that the government was committed to making the domestic labour sector safe, systematic and dignified.  
In today's meeting of the Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR), Minister Yadav expressed the belief that many issues of workers would be addressed once the existing Labour Act is amended.
During the meeting, discussions were also held with stakeholders regarding the management of workers through 'outsourcing'.  
On the occasion, Committee President Rahabar Ansari shared that the Committee is sensitive for the rights of workers and end anomalies of labour outsourcing. 
He expressed serious concern over the trend of outsourcing labour and seizing workers' rights with the help of Procurement Act in both public and private sectors. 
Ansari argued that none of the bodies could escape from their responsibility towards workers in the name of labour outsourcing.
Similarly, lawmaker Kshitij Thebe proposed that the Committee should visit Qatar, Kuwait and UAE and other countries and monitor the situation there as the situation of Nepali domestic workers there was vulnerable.  
He expressed the view that it would be easier to seek solution after identifying problems by directly monitoring the situation of the domestic workers there. 
Likewise, lawmaker Ranju Neupane stressed the need of ending labour exploitation on workers working in outsourcing companies. 
Neupane suggested that an expert committee should be formed in order to prepare a study report by collecting data by pointing out the need of preparing a draft of labour act keeping workers' right in centre. 
Lawmaker Som Sharma underscored the need of introducing a policy to formulate laws in favour of workers and to make companies accountable. 
Likewise, lawmakers Martika Prasad Yadav, Buddhi Prasad Panta, Arbinda Sah, Kali Bahadur Sahakari and Srijana Shrestha, among others put forth their views in favour of protecting workers' rights.
