Deuba-faction files writ petition at SC against scheduled 15th convention
Kathmandu, Aug 21: At a time when the Nepali Congress (NC) led by president Gagan Kumar Thapa has forwarded a process to hold the 15th general convention of the party, the anti-establishment faction has moved the court against the convention preparation.
On behalf of former president of NC, Sher Bahadur Deuba, a writ petition was filed at Supreme Court on Friday, demanding to stop the conduct of 15th general convention scheduled after a month.
The NC election committee has fixed the date for the convention- from October 2 to 5 in Kathmandu. Against this decision, the dissenting faction led by Deuba moved the court on Friday.
The process to hold general convention requires a halt because the SC has permitted to conduct a review hearing on the authenticity of NC leadership legitimacy, and the hearing on it is awaited.
