Consulate General of Nepal in Jeddah organises awareness programmes for migrant workers

Kathmandu, Aug 22: The Consulate General of Nepal  in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia  organised the  'Migrant Workers Awareness and Interaction' targeting Nepali migrants workers in Saudi Arabia. 
 The recent programme focused on providing Nepali migrant workers with basic but vital information on major Labour-related legal provisions in Saudi Arabia, job contracts and the rights and responsibilities of workers, according to Yagya Raj Poudyal, the Deputy Consular General 
During the programme, the participants were briefed on basic matters that Nepali migrant in Saudi Arabia require to know while living and working in Saudi Arabia.  
The programme provided practical information on use of digital platform and online services available in Saudi Arabia, including procedures for accessing and using digital tools in Saudi Arabia. 
It was particularly targeted at Nepali migrant workers and  Nepali community members residing in the local Al-Khumrah region. 
 Around 100 participants attended the programme, including Consular General Paras Pundit, representatives from the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and representatives of local social organizations and migrant workers.     
On the occasion, the participants were informed about the Social Security Fund ( SSF) implemented by the Government of Nepal for workers in foreign employment, the process of accessing it and the long-term benefits ensured for workers and their families. 
On that occasion, the Consulate General also informed participants about various social media platforms (Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp) that have been launched to ensure a faster and more effective flow of information to the Nepali community. 
During the interaction, Nepali migrant workers shared their problems, queries and experiences and discussed issues they face in their workplaces and daily lives. 
Information was also provided about the official services of the Consulate General, including passport-related services and consular assistance. Participants were further informed about the official WhatsApp number, 0531254099, available for registering complaints and seeking assistance.
