Eleven thousand government employees face music in four months
Kathmandu, Aug 19: The National Vigilance Centre under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has taken action against 11 thousand government employees in the last four months.
Centre's Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhatta said that the process of maintaining discipline in government offices and addressing public complaints has been moving forward at a fast pace ever since the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah was formed.
According to him, there has been a significant increase in the registration process of complaints related to government offices or employees at the NVC between last Chaitra (March 15 to April 13) and Saun (July 17 to August 13).
Spokesperson Bhatta stated that from last Chaitra to Shrawan, a total of 1,298 complaints were registered at the Center. Out of these, 1,114, or 85.82 percent, have been resolved. This is 11.72 percentage points higher compared to the same period last year.
According to the Centre, out of 556 complaints registered from Chaitra 2081 to Shrawan 2082, 412, or 74.10 percent, were resolved.
After the formation of the incumbent government, the list of 100 administrative reforms it issued mentioned implementing the employees' code of conduct in letter and spirit.
Accordingly, the NVC has said that it has made office monitoring and action procedures stricter and more comprehensive. According to the Centre, 924 offices have been monitored from last Chaitra to Shrawan.
During the monitoring, a total of 11,004 employees faced action: 10,268 for not following the code of conduct and punctuality, 645 for not wearing the designated uniform, and 91 for not being found in their workplaces.
The Centre has given strict instructions to the concerned authorities to take action against all these employees who violated discipline according to the prevailing law.
