Karnali, Aug 19: Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Mangal Bahadur Shahi, has won a vote of confidence of the Karnali Province Assembly.
Chief Minister Shahi won a majority of the votes in the meeting of the Karnali Province Assembly today. Out of a total of 40 Province Assembly members, 36 members voted, of which 21 voted in favour of Chief Minister Shahi while 13 voted against him.
In the meeting, Province Speaker Nanda Gurung said that two PA members remained neutral. Stating that 21 votes were cast in favor of the vote of confidence, which constituted a majority in the provincial assembly, Speaker Gurung announced that the proposal seeking a vote of confidence by Chief Minister Shahi was passed by a majority in accordance with Article 188 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal and Rule 181 of the Karnali Provincial Assembly Rules of Procedure.
The next meeting of the Provincial Assembly will be held at 3:00 PM on August 20.
