Government is sensitive to disaster management, says Home Minister
Kathmandu, Aug 19: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said that the ministry is sensitive towards disaster management.
Responding to queries raised by MPs in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, he said there is a legal provision that one person from a family can receive benefits in the event of being impacted by a disaster.
He also said that a task force has been formed under the coordination of the CEO of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority to amend the provision and make the local level fully responsible towards disaster management and preparedness.
Stating that there is a provision to comply with the Local Municipality Building Construction Code, Minister Gurung mentioned that necessary coordination and facilitation are being toward that end.
He also clarified that disaster management work is the responsibility of all three levels of government and informed that coordination and collaboration are being done accordingly.
