Sindhupalchowk, Aug. 24: The Eco section linking the Tatopani border point along the Nepal-China border area in Sindhupalchowk district opened on Monday for traffic after 40 days of disruption. The road was obstructed since July 15 after a landslide at Kodari of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 in the district.
The traffic resumed on Monday after the Road Division Office opened a new track, it is said. Six tippers and two heavy equipments were mobilized to clear the debris for the resumption of vehicular movement.    
Chief of Division Office, Narayan Dutta Bhandari, said that road maintenance will start soon in the Liping area too. 
Likewise, Chair of Sindhupalchowk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Buddharaj Basnet, said that the containers stranded in Kodari bazaar have moved to the customs office after the traffic resumption. He, however, said that 85 more containers are still stranded in the Liping area.    
The traders have complained of heavy loss from the vehicular disruption in the international highway for long and hoped that the highway will remain open in the upcoming days so that they could import goods unhindered for the festival season.  
Likewise, Chair of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, Kumar Shrestha, said that the Tatopani border point is not likely to operate unhindered until the road in the Liping area was maintained, though the road was cleared along the Eco area.
